PRIVATE USAGE
Datumcom's Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) calculates a vehicle's location using
satellite global positioning (GPS) technology. The monitoring is transmitted to a
monitoring station, then plotted on a map with a special status readout. The monitoring
station 'sees' the vehicle where it is and when it's there, in real time. Based on the
status and situation, the monitoring station takes appropriate action.
From the monitoring station an operator can perform many operations:
- disable the ignition
- remotely lock or unlock the doors
- enable the alarm
- monitoring vehicle activity
A printed report on the vehicle's activity can tell the operator the vehicle's location,
speed, and heading, as well as the status of the vehicle (normal, stolen, or emergency).
Preset boundaries can also be set by the customer to automatically notify the monitoring
station if the vehicle has entered a restricted area.
Activation of the equipment can be triggered by various methods:
- a telephone call to the monitoring station
- vehicle movement with the ignition off (vehicle is towed)
- vehicle leaves or enters a designated geographic area or 'geo fence'
- driver depresses the emergency button
- tampering with the AutoGuard GPS vehicle components
Datumcom's Automatic Vehicle Location -AVL/GPS- is an accurate and efficient method
of monitoring vehicle activity.
