Datumcom to Offer Trimble's Wireless Products in Latin America
Sunnyvale, California, March, 1999 - Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) announced today that Veridian
Engineering's Datumtech Operations has signed a contract to offer Trimble's wireless
communications products in Latin America.
The agreement will assign master distributorship to Veridian's Datumtech Operations,
with exclusive rights in Chile and Puerto Rico. Veridian will be working with their
strategic partner, Datumcom Corporation, for distribution and service of the Trimble
products throughout the region. Datumtech will distribute Trimble's new CrossCheck (tm)
AMPS unit that integrates GPS, cellular and computing technologies into a single,
low-cost mobile positioning and communications system for fleet management and security.
"Trimble leads the market in developing innovative GPS products for wireless
communications and we have used their products for years to satisfy many of our client's
demanding requirements in Latin America," said Dr. Moises Sudit, vice president of
Veridian Engineering's Datumtech Operations. "We are very excited about the agreement
and the opportunities that it presents to the company. It will allow us to create
applications to address new market sectors and increase our current market share."

The interface of Trimble's wireless communications products with Veridian's suite of
software applications gives users a complete, flexible end-to-end solution, including
communications, mapping, database maintenance and report modules with the capability of
historical review. Additionally, Veridian will leverage a larger installation base to
provide better pricing, support and service. Trimble and Veridian will also cooperate to
establish Datumtech Operations as a Trimble Authorized Service Center.
The Veridian/Datumcom team will provide the first line of technical support, warranty
and repair service to customers in Latin America. The service centers will decrease
response times for service and support of the Trimble products and trained engineers
will be available to answer questions and assist in development of new applications to
satisfy client requirements.
